SURFACE

$553M in estimated Amazon revenue.
Zero strong product pages.

We scored the flagship product listings behind four Amazon categories on one consistent standard. Selling the most does not mean having the best page.

Via Surface is our page-level intelligence module, part of Via, Channel Key's commerce intelligence system. Brand names are withheld. The scores are not.

WHAT WE DID

We scored the page behind the sale.

A brand's sales rank tells you how much it sells. It doesn't tell you how well its product page is built. We wanted to know how closely the two line up, so we held every listing to the same standard.

01

Pick the shelf

In each of four Amazon categories, we took the ten flagship listings behind the brands that sell the most.

02

Open everything

We opened every gallery image and every A+ content module by hand: 375 gallery slots and 268 A+ modules across the 40 listings. A+ is Amazon's enhanced brand content.

03

Score on one rubric

Leaders can connect actions to business value, prioritize tradeoffs, and move faster with clearer evidence behind each decision.

Names are withheld. Listings are labeled A to J in descending order of revenue, and every score comes from publicly visible product pages. The point is the category pattern, not any one brand.

THE SCORES

The best page in every category fell short of strong.

We tracked the single best page in each category. A well-built page earns a 75. A strong page earns 80 or higher. None of the four reached 80.

THE PATTERN

Sales rank and page quality barely move together.

We measured how closely each listing's revenue rank tracks its page score. At +1.00, the biggest sellers would always have the best pages. At zero, rank tells you nothing about the page. Below zero, the better a listing sells, the worse its page tends to be.

03-rank-correlation.png

In these categories, rank is carried by price, distribution and review depth. The page is the lever almost nobody is using.

Each category covers ten listings, so these figures are directional. They show how rank and page quality line up in these studies. They are not proof of cause.

THE REPORTS

Read the full category reports.

Each report scores ten listings pillar by pillar, maps the blind spots every page shares, and closes with four plays nobody on the shelf has run.

METHOD

One rubric. Every page opened by hand.

Each listing is scored from 0 to 100 on eight pillars. The weight shows how much each pillar counts toward the total.

What we looked at

Publicly visible product pages on Amazon US, walked live on August 31, 2026. Every gallery slot and A+ module was opened at full size.

What we didn't have

No search-query, ad performance, traffic, conversion or returns data, so Keyword scores are estimates. Revenue is a third-party estimate for the 12 months to July 19, 2026, not client-reported.

How to read it

Each category covers ten listings, so findings are directional and do not establish cause. Product pages change often. This is a point-in-time read.
